This tintype we think could be of James Masterson. It is a circa 1880 to 1890 tintype. James was deputy Sheriff in Colfax Co. New Mexico in 1880 and Deputy Sheriff in Logan Co. Oklahoma in the early 1890's.at that time. We have compared our image to the only one we could find of James Masterson. He died in 1895 of Tuberculosis at the age of 39. Our image compared to the known image
Although each photograph has a different angle there are strong similarities of the two images. The known image is more of a graphite drawing.
